Black Myth: Zhong Kui Teaser Unveiled by Game Science

A new teaser for the sequel to Black Myth: Wukong has been released, although it comes with a 'non-canon' label.

Game Science has just shared a nearly seven-minute teaser for the follow-up to Black Myth: Wukong, titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui. However, this teaser carries a 'non-canon' tag, indicating that the content may not reflect the final game or its narrative. The studio has released this footage to commemorate the Chinese New Year and to usher in the Year of the Horse. Although the trailer does not showcase any actual gameplay or combat, it provides an intriguing glimpse into the aesthetic and audio design of the sequel. The teaser begins with a young woman bustling about an outdoor kitchen, preparing a meal. Upon closer inspection, viewers will notice that a character passing by is not entirely human, and the individual who opens an enormous shell reveals a peculiar little creature instead of a regular mollusk. The meal preparation also takes a bizarre turn as she works with a piece of meat that has blinking eyes embedded within it. There’s a wealth of fascinating visuals to absorb, and it’s highly recommended to watch the teaser for yourself. Just keep in mind that this serves more as a technological showcase and is unlikely to influence the actual plot of Black Myth: Zhong Kui, similar to a spin-off story that Game Science released during the previous year’s Chinese New Year festivities. The sequel was initially revealed at Opening Night Live 2025 last August, with Game Science describing Black Myth: Zhong Kui as a single-player action RPG inspired by the classic Chinese tale 'Zhong Kui Banishing Evil.' The developers promise unique gameplay experiences and innovative features that aim to improve upon previous shortcomings. As of now, there is no confirmed release window or date for the game. The original title, Black Myth: Wukong, achieved remarkable success after its launch on PC and PlayStation 5 in 2024, selling 10 million copies within the first three days. The game later arrived on Xbox Series X and S in August 2025, earning an impressive 8/10 in reviews, which praised its combat, challenging bosses, hidden secrets, and stunning visuals.
