Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Character Roster Details Surface Before PlayStation State of Play

New information regarding the PlayStation-exclusive Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has emerged just ahead of the upcoming State of Play event.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, new information has surfaced online just days prior to this week’s State of Play event. This eagerly awaited fighting game, published by PlayStation, is set to launch with a roster of 20 characters and will feature a single-player mode known as "Episode Mode." This information was gleaned from a now-removed Steam page that briefly appeared before being taken down, although it was shared widely on social media. The game's character lineup is noted to be "expanding," hinting that more heroes from the Marvel universe may join in future updates. Additionally, reports suggest that the game will support online lobbies for up to 64 players, including traditional versus modes. For those on PC, a PlayStation account will be necessary to play. Developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind Guilty Gear Strive, Marvel Tokon has been announced for PlayStation 5 and PC, with a tentative release window set for 2026. The timing of this leak, occurring just before Sony's upcoming State of Play showcase, indicates that more details might be revealed soon. At present, only eight characters have been officially confirmed: Captain America (Steve Rogers), Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Star-Lord, and Storm. This number is likely to increase in the coming days. The leaked game description invites players to "assemble your team of legendary Marvel characters in the ultimate 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games." Players can create their ideal team and engage in exhilarating 4v4 combat, choosing from an expanding roster of 20 recognizable Marvel characters, each presented in a striking new anime-inspired aesthetic, along with their own unique teams of heroes and villains. Players will have the opportunity to experiment with different team compositions to uncover new combos, synergies, and strategies. They can fight through dynamic stages inspired by iconic locations from the Marvel Universe, some of which will feature interactive transitions. The fighting mechanics promise to be engaging and user-friendly, offering a variety of unique moves, combos, and strategies to master. Adjustable controls, including both traditional and quick inputs, along with easy chain combos, ensure that new players can quickly jump into the action. Players can face off against friends locally or join battles with as many as 64 players online, including standard VS modes. The single-player Episode Mode will delve into team dynamics and lore, providing a deeper understanding of each team. An internet connection and a PlayStation account will be required to access the game. Sony's State of Play is scheduled for this Thursday, February 12 at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm UK time, where live updates will be provided.
