Capcom Unveils Plans for Major Expansion in Monster Hunter Wilds
A significant expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds is in the works, reminiscent of Iceborne.
Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a substantial expansion later this year. In a video commemorating the first anniversary of the open-world title, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto hinted at an expansion akin to the Iceborne add-on from Monster Hunter World, although he kept specific details under wraps. He did indicate that this would be the "final update" for the game. "We are currently developing a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter: Wilds," Tsujimoto mentioned. "More details will be shared this summer." Additionally, players were given insight into an update set to launch on February 18, which will introduce Arch-Tempered Arkveld, 10-star Arc-Tempered monsters, and a special collaboration with Monster Hunter Stories 3, a spin-off releasing next month. An anniversary event will also take place, allowing players to access all previous awards and quests once again. Participants logging in during the anniversary celebration will receive a complimentary item pack, and all past seasonal events will return in a weekly rotation. From February 18, nearly all previously released event quests will become permanent. "Since Title Update 4, we have been working on enhancements to game stability and performance," Tsujimoto noted. "This upcoming update will bring even more improvements." Players are encouraged to keep an eye on Capcom's social media for further updates. "While this signifies the conclusion of major content updates, our team is diligently working on a large-scale expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds," the team stated. "We are excited to reveal the expansion this summer." Monster Hunter Wilds has faced some challenges recently. Title Update 4, which launched at the end of last year, introduced numerous gameplay and balance adjustments, along with enhancements to CPU and GPU performance, reduced load times, and optimizations for PC. A development roadmap released in December outlined plans to tackle various issues affecting the PC version. However, just last month, a player identified a potential performance problem linked to the number of downloadable content packs owned. Capcom acknowledged this as an "unintended bug" and confirmed it would be addressed in Patch 1.040.03.01.
