Samson Set to Launch on Consoles This Autumn
The gritty open-world action-adventure game Samson, directed by Christofer Sundberg, is preparing for a console release this fall following a troubled launch on PC. Developer Liquid Swords is also introducing a series of updates to enhance the game.
Samson, an open-world action-adventure title set in the 1990s and helmed by Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg, is officially slated for a console release this autumn. This announcement comes after the game's rocky debut on PC earlier this month, which was plagued by numerous bugs. As for which consoles will support Samson, that information remains unclear, particularly regarding the potential inclusion of the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the expected PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Despite initial excitement following a preview that showcased some engaging elements, the game's launch was marred by issues such as repetitive gameplay, leading to a disappointing review score of 4 out of 10. Nevertheless, the game offers unique experiences that some players have likened to the vibes of Ryan Gosling's character in the 2011 film Drive. Liquid Swords has now laid out their roadmap for the remainder of the year, aimed at rectifying problems as they gear up for the console release. The developer plans to issue weekly patches through early May, with updates focusing on various improvements, including combat adjustments, new vehicle options, and performance enhancements. Additionally, the first content update, scheduled for mid-May, will introduce a dedicated combat expansion, enriching the game’s fighting mechanics. Following that, a vehicle-centric expansion is expected in mid-June to enhance the driving experience further. Liquid Swords has emphasized their commitment to elevating the overall quality, gameplay, and content of Samson. They are actively engaging with player feedback through Discord and community forums to prioritize their updates effectively.
