Remedy Entertainment Appoints Former EA Executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon as New CEO

Jean-Charles Gaudechon has been selected as the new CEO of Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind Control and Alan Wake.

Remedy Entertainment, recognized for its iconic titles like Control and Alan Wake, has appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its new chief executive officer. The announcement was made public today through a statement from the company's board of directors. Co-founder Markus Mäki will remain in his role as interim CEO until the official transition on March 1, 2026. In a statement, Gaudechon expressed his enthusiasm about joining the company at such a significant moment. He remarked, "I’m excited and honored to join Remedy at a pivotal time. The studio has a unique creative identity and a strong pipeline. My commitment is to protect what makes it special, deliver exceptional games, and scale Remedy in a way that builds lasting value." Mäki stepped in as interim CEO after the unexpected resignation of Tero Virtala in October 2025. Virtala's departure came on the heels of disappointing performance from the studio’s summer multiplayer FPS, FBC: Firebreak, which received lukewarm reviews and commercial results. After over nine years with Remedy, Virtala’s exit prompted the search for a new, long-term leader. Gaudechon brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including serving as a studio head and executive producer at EA, where he contributed to projects like Battlefield Heroes, and holding positions at CCP Games, the studio behind Eve Online. He is eager to guide Remedy, stating that the company has the potential to become a cornerstone of the gaming industry's future. He further added, "We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way." Gaudechon will relocate to Finland with his family and is looking forward to collaborating directly with the studio team. Fans of Remedy are eagerly anticipating the upcoming sequel to Control, titled Control: Resonant, which was revealed at the 2025 Game Awards and is set to release later this year for both PC and consoles. Additionally, remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 are underway, with their release dates yet to be announced.
